National Museum of Qatar

The National Museum of Qatar is the place to visit in Qatar and was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel. According to him, he took inspiration from the naturally occurring formations known colloquially as “desert roses.” The museum covers an impressive 430,500 square feet and was actually constructed around a palace that once functioned as the seat of government.

Museum of Islamic Art

Resting atop a man-made island near Doha’s waterfront, the Museum of Islamic Art is the work of Pritzker Prize-winning architect I.M. Pei, who designed the glass pyramid at the Louvre. The building features an array of distinctly Islamic patterns in its architecture, including domes, arches, and geometric shapes, and houses more than 800 words in various styles.

Qatar National Library

Designed by Rem Koolhaas, the National Library is a breathtaking building filled with natural light. It contains over one million books and uses a special automated sorting system to serve waiting readers. It’s special “heritage library,” which is located in the basement, has documents dating back to the 7th century.

Four Seasons Hotel Doha

The Four Seasons is not only one of the premier places to stay in the Capital, but the hotel’s private marina boasts world-famous Japanese restaurant, Nobu. A three-level oval building with an open roof, it offers diners the chance to enjoy incredible cuisine as well as dazzling views.

Qatar National Convention Center

Sidra Medicine

Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies

Among other things, this structure is where you’ll see the Education City Mosque, which won the World Architecture Festival in 2015 in the “Religious Buildings” category. The Mosque is truly something to behold, resting atop five columns that represent the five pillars of Islam.

Al Janoub Stadium (host 2022 world cup)

Al Janoub Stadium has received a lot of attention lately as one of eight venues for the FIFI World Cup 2022. A new building first opened in 2019, it can hold 40,000 fans with ease. It was designed by Zaha Hadid, who took inspiration from the dhow boats so common in Qatar.

Al Thumama Stadium (Host 2022 world cup)

This stadium was specifically constructed for the FIFA World Cup. Designed by a native Qatari architecht named Ibrahim M. Jaidah, it was inspired by the shape of a gahfiya, a woven cap worn by Arab men. It seats some 40,000 people quite comfortably. During the World Cup event, half of these seats will be allotted to visiting countries.

Al Bayt Stadium

Al Bayt Stadium is situated near the coastal city of Al Khor. The stadium is very sustainable, using a canopy cover that very closely resembles the tends used by the Bedouin people. It has a capacity of 60,000, but the modular seating can quickly be reconfigured if needed.

Dahl Al Misfir

Imam Abdul Wahhab Mosque

Also known as the Qatar State Grand Mosque, this is one of the largest buildings in the country.
